George Caridakis
George Caridakis serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural Technology & Communication, University of the Aegean and coordinate the Intelligent Interaction research group (ii.aegean.gr) active in the research fields of Intelligent Systems and Human Computer Interaction with applications to the Creative and Cultural Heritage domains. He is also affiliated as a research professor with the Athena RC and the National Technical University of Athens. In the past, he has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Informatics, University of Thessaly and has been elected as an Assistant Professor in Games and Media Technology at the Medialogy Department, Aalborg University, Denmark. Elected Chair of the ACM SIGCHI Greek chapter and appointed Chair of the Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries council of the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation as well as an expert at the Commission Expert Group on the common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage.
His research on various aspects of intelligent human computer interaction and cultural informatics has been published on more than 50 journal articles and book chapters and more than 80 papers in conferences and workshops and his work has been well recognised by the scientific community by being cited more than 3000 times with an h-index of 27. His teaching experience includes courses offered in undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different institutions in the past 15 years and supervision of PhD, MSc and undergraduate theses. His academic service includes reviewer, board and committee member in numerous international scientific journals, conferences and workshops and numerous invited talks.
He has participated in more than 40 research projects over the past 20 years at Regional, National and European level as a Researcher, Project Manager and Scientific Coordinator. His experience also includes evaluating and monitoring the implementation of research and innovation frameworks at a Regional, National and European level in the last 15 years and included frameworks such as Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe and Digital Europe Programme’s European Digital Innovation Hubs (please see detailed list in the attached CV) and has served the EC and DG CNECT as an expert in the “G2: Interactive Technologies, Digital for Culture and Education” calls, European Education and Culture Executive Agency frameworks and an expert for the A1 Artificial Intelligence & Robotics – Horizon Europe Evaluations and during the H2020 FET OPEN evaluations.
