Dr Elissavet Kosta
Dr. Elissavet Kosta is a Museologist and researcher specializing in cultural management, digital cultural heritage, cultural routes, and visitor experience design. She has been elected Assistant Professor (appointment pending) at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean, with the academic field “Cultural Management and Emerging Technologies”.
She currently conducts postdoctoral research at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, focusing on the application of Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies in cultural tourism and heritage environments. Her research interests include digital cultural heritage, cultural routes, visitor experience, and immersive technologies in cultural environments.
A central aspect of her academic work concerns the design and development of cultural routes as tools for cultural interpretation, sustainable tourism development, and the strengthening of local creative economies. Her doctoral research focused on cultural routes in Greece as multidimensional cultural and tourism experiences, while her monograph entitled “Cultural Routes in Greece: Prospects for the Creative Economy” (2024) contributes to the contemporary discourse on cultural tourism and heritage management.
Dr. Kosta has participated in several funded research projects (ESPA, Interreg) related to cultural heritage digitization, extended reality applications, gamification, smart tourism, and digital storytelling. She has extensive teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level at the University of Ioannina, the Ionian University, and the Hellenic Open University.
