George Trichopoulos

Georgios Trichopoulos is an IT engineer and PhD candidate in the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication, in the University of the Aegean, and his research focuses on Digital Storytelling for Cultural Heritage, using computational methods and Artificial Intelligence.  In 2018, he received a Master’s  Degree on Designing Digital Cultural Products from the Cultural Informatics and Communication Department, of the University of the Aegean, gaining a distinction for excellence and a scholarship. He is a member of the Intelligence Interaction Research Group and in recent years has participated in various projects of cultural interest, with objects such as the 3D mapping of historical buildings, the creation of digital twins for museum exhibits, the creation of tangible interfaces for augmented and virtual reality applications, the development of sound augmentation in cultural applications, the creation of serious digital games. He actively participates in scientific conferences and his academic papers include specialized case studies on the use of augmented reality smart glasses (ARSG) and the exploitation of Large Linguistic Models such as GPT4 as a tour guide or recommender system in GLAMs.

George is an active, experienced educator in the IT field as he has served for the last 25 years in Primary, Secondary and Academic education, actively participating and organizing actions such as: a) international scientific competitions on robotics and aerospace technology, b) participation in European projects (Erasmus+, Leonardo, Comenius, European Parliament Ambassador Schools), c) educational conferences and workshops, d) teacher training. He has also worked as a systems (mainframe) engineer in the Ministry of National Defense (Greece) and as a software developer in companies.

At the same time, he has an artistic background as he has studied piano and music theory for more than 20 years. He has received a piano degree and a soloist diploma from conservatories, having collaborated with orchestras and choirs in Greece and abroad in concerts and having performed classical and contemporary music works in piano recitals.
