Athina Grammatikopoulou

Athina Grammatikopoulou is a PhD candidate at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication at the University of the Aegean, focusing on technologically enhanced participatory and gamified processes for improving cultural experiences. She graduated from the Department of Computer Science at AUTh and completed the postgraduate program of the same department focusing on educational technology. She completed her internship at the European University Institute in Florence (EUI). She is also a graduate of the inter-university postgraduate program in Architecture at AUTh in Museology and Cultural Management and has been involved in the design of artistic and historical exhibitions as a digital museologist, developing targeted digital exhibition applications. Her master’s thesis was awarded special recognition by the European Museum Academy (EMA).

From 2016 to 2023, she worked at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications Technologies (ITI) of the National Centre for Research and Technology HELLAS (CERTH) as a research assistant, participating in national and European research programs focusing, among other things, on the study, analysis, and research of cultural issues. Her research interests in areas such as human-computer interaction (HCI), user experience (UX) design and research, machine learning, and the development of digital games and applications have led to her participation in writing scientific papers for international conferences and journals. Since January 2024, she has been working as an educational technologist at the European Parliament services.
